#ND4FLINT

Hey everyone thanks for visiting our page! My name is Colt Mavity and I am a student at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, North Dakota. #ND4FLINT is a movement I have started to aid those in Flint, Michigan with their water crisis. Along with other college student volunteers, we are donating our time, money, and vehicles to fill our cars, pickups, vans, SUVs, etc. with bottled water for those in need. We are each using our own money to stock our cars up with water. The funds from this gofundme page will be utilized in one of three phases: Phase 1 - as much water as we can physically fit into our vehicles. If we have additional donations, we will move to Phase 2 - reimbursement to our volunteers for travel expense (this is only referring to gas, not lodging or food or anything of that nature; just gas). If we would again have excess funds from donations we would use them for Phase 3 - monetary donations to be given directly to organizations in Flint for the water crisis. The way we will be getting these funds to those in need will be simple. Since we are on somewhat of a time crunch, whatever amount we have raised through this site, we will then take that total and make our purchases of water on a credit card. As soon as we get the bill we will use the money to pay for the bill that purchased the water from. The same would go for purchases of (half  gas, but we don't forsee raising that much money. And then with Phase 3, once we have that money in our account we would simply write a check to the organizations in need. We will be making our water donations to Michigan Community Service Commission (if we have over 100 cases) or Kingdom Life Ministries (if we have under 100 cases). Monetary donations will go to Safe Water Safe Homes Fund and/or Michigan Community Service Commission.

#ND4FLINT is a simple cause. A bunch of college kids from North Dakota are going to drive across the Midwest to reach the people of Flint, MI with A LOT of bottled water. We have set up this gofundme page in the chance that our cause might be heard by others that would like to help, but are unable to join us on our journey. The people of Flint need our help and as a bunch of poor college students, we are only able to give so much. Donations on this page will go towards two things: water & travel expenses (gas). 

Our plan is to accept any donations whether monetary or physical (bottled or cases of water) whenever they are so generously donated, but we intend to buy a majority of the water once we get closer to Michigan in order to cut back on our gas (mileage) expense. 

We will be leaving THIS Thursday (February 18th) and hope to arrive in Flint around Friday/Saturday. If anyone would like to join the convoy of vehicles you are more than welcome to! We plan on sleeping in our cars though, so keep that in mind! Any and all donations will be extremely appreciated as the people of Flint need one of the most basic neccesities of life: WATER!
