Over 100 Parrots. Locked in a Shed. More Than Half Were Dead.

A neighbour reached out to us after noticing something strange — a man had screwed shut the door to his garden shed.

Inside were over 100 parrots — cockatiels, conures, budgies. Starving. Forgotten.

More than half of them had already died.

The man wasn’t cruel. He was overwhelmed and didn’t know what to do.

If he’d known about our rescue — that we’d come, no judgment, no charge — those birds might still be alive.

We’re Northern Ireland Parrot Rescue & Rehome, and we exist to stop this from happening again.

We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome parrots in crisis across Northern Ireland — from emergency call-outs to long-term care and rehoming.

We don’t charge. We don’t shame. We just help.

Meet Lola – A Story of Hope

Lola had lived with her loving owner for nearly 12 years but became too difficult to manage during lockdown. Her owner was heartbroken but wanted what was best.

“I still miss her terribly,” she shared, “but seeing Lola happy with Stephen, with her new parrot friends — especially Sully — helps me know I did the right thing.”

Today, Lola is still with us, surrounded by care and companionship.
