Opiyo Ivan's Memorial Fund
Donation protected
This fundraiser was originally started to raise funds for Opiyo's much-needed surgery to release the contractures that constricted movement of his arms. Tragically, he died suddenly and unexpectedly on June 14, 2016 after suffering a seizure.
In honor of Opiyo and in recognition of his love for children and his compassion for the suffering of others, we are going forward with our plans to create Africa Focus on Epilepsy and Nodding Disease Syndrome (AFENDS, www.afends.org) which will provide biopsychosocial services for children suffering from epilepsy or nodding disease in Uganda and other sub-Saharan countries in Africa. If you would like to support this organization in honor of Opiyo, please donate here.
Opiyo was loved by many, many people in several countries, notably Uganda and the U.S. If, as Ernie Banks, suggested, "the measure of a man is in the lives he's touched," Opiyo was a very large man with a great heart.
I believe he would want to be remembered in this way.
