Help A Kid Find Their Smile!
Tax deductible
1-17-18 Update: WE'RE SO CLOSE. 80 people over the next 5 days would get us to our funding goal! Help make free dental care for kids in need possible by making a donation today.
We’re very pleased to announce a revised crowdfunding target of $10,000, thanks to private donations and strategic programming decisions. But our GoFundMe campaign will close this Sunday, January 21st, at midnight. Please help us break through our new target goal by donating now.
We’re so close! 80 people donating $25 each achieves the target $10,000. A donation of any amount can make a difference.
WHAT IS GIVE KIDS A SMILE? Have you ever had a toothache? 1 in 7 young children get toothaches, and too many of them go without any dental care. These kids are in pain, can have trouble eating and paying attention in school – in fact children with poor oral health are nearly 3 times more likely to miss school due to dental pain.
But you can change things for children in the Philadelphia area.
You can help relieve a child’s pain, give the gift of a dental appointment and a boost to their health and confidence by donating to Public Citizens for Children and Youth’s “Give Kids a Smile” event.
We have no funding for our Smile event this year. If we don't reach our goal, these 1,000 kids might not get care any other way and spend their new year with dental pain that could lead to missed schools days and potentially other serious medical conditions. In order to make 1,000 kids free dental appointments in the spring, we have to start recruiting dentists now.
Where will your money go? Towards recruiting 50 dentists in the Philadelphia area to ask them to provide free dental care to 1,000 children during spring break; creating and sharing promotional materials with area school districts and 300+ child-serving organizations to spread the word to families about Give Kids a Smile, and recruiting and supervising 30 volunteers for three weeks for a pop-up call center to help parents make dental appointments and apply for insurance coverage for their kids.
What is Public Citizens for Children and Youth? PCCY, a non-profit organization, has been dedicated to improving the lives and life chances of children in southeast Pennsylvania for the last 37 years through thoughtful and informed advocacy. For 14 years, PCCY has sponsored Give Kids a Smile connecting over 4,000 children to free dental care. Please help us assist 1,000 more kids in 2018!
