The PEI Sleeping Bag Project
Donation protected
The proceeds raised from this campaign project will be going towards purchasing minimum 500 sleeping bags at a cost rate from Canadian Tire, and they are donating the rest of the procceds to the project. These sleeping bags will be distributed to children under 16 in need around Charlottetown (and surrounding communities), Prince Edward Island via Santa's Angels on December 25th, 2017.
Why sleeping bags? Many are unaware that as of 2014, 1 in 6 children in PEI live in poverty, and this number has only increased over time. The reality of any child going cold throughout a PEI winter’s night can be prevented if we come together as a community. A sleeping bag will be a source of safety, warmth, and something they can call their own while being transported from place to place if the need arises – as it so often does.
Any donation would be accepted and appreciated! All proceeds go directly to purchasing the sleeping bags at cost. If you, for example, donate $100 from you or a group of friends/coworkers, that $100 donation could buy five children each a new sleeping bag for Christmas.
By being involved with the Santa’s Angels organization for the past four years, I have visited almost 700 + homes in Charlottetown on Christmas mornings. During this time, I have realized a lot about the needs of our community, and the fact that this is such a need in our own backyard is heartbreaking, but can certainly be helped! At 6am on Christmas morning we set out to deliver food, gifts and toiletries for those in need – this year, I hope that a warm sleeping bag can be a part of this delivery. I am willing to do the footwork, but I need your contributions to help make this a reality!
Thank you so much for your consideration to help fund “The Sleeping Bag Project” – you are helping change lives!
