Hurricane Maria ripped through Puerto Rico in September 2017. As of February, over 1 million Americans living on the island are still without electricity.
A group of students and teachers in Northern Kentucky decided to do something to help the people who are still in need. We made a connection with an elementary near the center of the island that suffered a lot of destruction during the storm to see how we could help them. The most efficient use of funds is to send them money directly so they can spend it on immediate necessities without the added costs of shipping items.
We also will be travelling to the school in April to build them a new playground that will double as their physical education space.
Your donations will directly benefit the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. You will also be benefitting our students, most of whom have never had the opportunity to travel much outside Kentucky.
As a teacher, I love to see when young people display a sense of charity and obligation to others and I want to encourage them. I am so excited to be helping victims of a terrible storm as well giving the students here the opportunity to experience the joy of helping others.
We are all extremely grateful for any donation you are able to make!
