Peyton's Brain
Donation protected
Peytons tumors are growing, and we have lost control of her disease.
We are starting a new clinical trial in Houston, in the coming weeks. This is the last good option we have, in hopes to getting Peyton's tumors under control again. Both her brain and spine MRI's have showed new tumors, so time is of the essence. We will leave for Houston on the 19th, and meet with her neurosurgeon Dr. Sandberg on the 21st to consent her starting the new clinical trial. He will do brain/spince surgery on the 22nd and try to get out any tumor they can safely remove from her brain and specefically a large tumor wrapped around her spinal cord in her C2 (upper neck) to free up flow for her spinal fluid so she doesn't get any blockages which will cause her more complications... When closing the inscisions, he will leave her Ommaya (catheter) in the 4th ventricle of her brain, where the chemotherapy will be directly delivered. Since her clinical trial appointments are a 5 minute appointment once a week, for 12 weeks, and are all out patient, Peyton and I will fly into Houston once a week, every Monday for 12 weeks. Thankfully, this type of chemo infusion wont give her the normal side effects as intrevaneous chemo would, so she should be feeling like her normal self instead of being sick like most would think. With flying in, this means we get family time at home for more than half the week, which is important to us to be able to still be a family. We're lucky in that aspect, as many others have to stay full time where their clinical trial is. But still, that's 24 flights and 12 rental cars, 12 parked cars at the airport, and everything in between.

Thank you everyone for all your love and continuous support of our family. We appreciate all the help you give us and please know we're forever grateful that so many people love our sweet Peyton ❤ Please pray and hope that this clinical trial is our cure. Our team in Atlanta is on board with us going and doing the trial, which means the world to have their support as we leave them and go on a new path to finding a cure for Peyton. Our time with Peyton is short, if we don't act quickly. She's in good spirits and acting like herself, praying we can continue on like this without her getting symptomatic.
