Marching Band Needs a Leg Up!
Donation protected
When band parents in North Texas heard about the misfortune of a marching band in eastern Kentucky, we just had to do something to help. For many of us marching band is where our kids have come alive. It's a safe place for them to learn and grow both individually and as a team. Hearing about the hardship of a band across the country made us ache for those students who are working hard to produce a solid show, just like our own kids are busy doing.
Just recently, Pike County Central High School Marching Band was devastated to learn a uniform company closed its doors without delivering their brand new band uniforms as promised. Not only did this band not receive their uniforms, the company also closed their doors with the $3700 those students worked very hard to bring in through fundraising efforts.
They say everything is bigger in Texas and perhaps that's true when it comes to the size of our trucks, high schools, marching bands, and possibly our hearts as well because we are linking arms and chipping in to help this band get back everything that they lost... and then some. You see their director, Matt Moon, knew that the 20 year old uniforms absolutely needed to be replaced so he found some used uniforms that will get them through this season. So this small but mighty band is now out almost $7,000 in funds and they have little to show for it.
If 268 individuals donate just $28 ($3 covers fees taken out by GoFundMe) we can show these high school kids that there is still good in the world and that people are rooting for them clear across the country!
