The Point Internship - Vancouver

Donation protected
This summer, from June 1 – July 31, I will be interning at a church called The Point, located in Vancouver, B.C. This opportunity was made known to me through my current church, Freshwater Bolivar, where I am a covenant member and intern. Last March, Freshwater announced a partnership with The Point. It was then that I first heard about their ministry and, more broadly, about what is going on in the city of Vancouver. I have been praying for Vancouver and this opportunity fairly regularly since then.

Vancouver is a very diverse city. People representing hundreds of different ethnicities make their homes there. Beyond the ethnic and cultural diversity of the area, religious philosophies in Vancouver are all over the map. One is dominant, though, and growing, and that is to have no religious affiliation at all. According to a census in 2011, nearly half of the population of Vancouver identifies this way. This reality has my heart broken for the people of that city, and I am praying that you will be moved with compassion for them, as well.

The Point Church was started in 2003 on the campus of a local university, where the congregation still meets for worship. They are a church dedicated to loving and serving their community, as well as proclaiming the good news of Jesus to all. Their website is http://pointchurch.ca/. I encourage you to look more into the work that they are doing. Here are some of my anticipated roles as an intern:
· Daily and weekly ministry responsibilities, assisting with weekly worship gatherings
· Assistance in planning summer activities and involvement in community outreach events
· Administrative responsibilities
· Assisting in hosting visiting mission teams
· Attending weekly staff meetings
· Other specific, skills-based projects (For me, many will be related to my communication degree program, including work on a social media plan, newsletters, other church documents, etc.)

I cannot express how eager I am for this summer, to learn from and work with The Point staff, to live in the community of Vancouver, and to share the joy that I have in Christ with the people there. More than anything, I am  desperate for your prayers. Nothing can be accomplished apart from the work of the Holy Spirit, and all over the scriptures we see Him working through the prayers of his people. Prayer in itself is Kingdom-work, and I am pleading with you to participate in that work with me. In addition to this, I would also like to ask for financial support. In order to participate in the internship, specifically to cover living expenses for the summer, I am in need of $2,500. If you feel so led, please consider joining me in this ministry effort through a monetary contribution of any amount.

Thank you so much for your consideration.

In Christ,
