Maddies Battle with Brain Cancer
Our beautiful Maddie was originally diagnosed with ATRT, an aggressive pediatric brain tumor, in November, 2013 when she was only one month old. Maddie bravely fought through brain surgery, an aggressive chemotherapy course and then a stem cell transplant. This first round of treatment required to be in the hospital for 9 months and she was then able to go home cancer free.
During her 5 months at home Maddie was able to spend quality time with her family and meet many developmental milestones. Her brother Zachary, her father, and I were thrilled to finally all be home together.
On January 7th Maddie had an appointment for a routine MRI. The MRI showed that the tumor had grown back in the same spot on her brain. This news was devestating.
On january 16th Maddie had another major surgery to remove the tumor. When she recovers from the surgery she will be getting radiation treatment for 6 weeks, and then more chemotherapy that is anticipated to last 1 year.
This is Maddies second battle with brain cancer. Maddies cancer and treatment has signifigintly changed our lives in so many ways, emotionally, mentally, and financially. Maddies father has not been able to work with everything thats going on. I have to be at the hospital with Madison While Zack is home taking care of our 6 year old son. This has put a huge financial strain on our family. On top of everything our family is going through, the last thing we want to worry about is money.
This fund is to help Maddies family with bills, gas, and food for these long hospital stays, and all the other expenses that come along with having a child with brain cancer.
Please help support Maddie and her family during this extremely difficult time in our lives. Any size donation is greatly appreciated.
