Sound FX & Interviews! ROADTRIP!

The Hollywood Radiophonic Laboratory, our new small independent company dedicated to sound effects design and the preservation of the craft's history, is having a ROADTRIP!
On this trip, we're going to record new sounds, interview experts in the craft, and share stories behind many classic motion picture sound effects. And we'd like YOU to help make it happen… and to share the adventure with us.
In December, a small crew of ours will be driving up to the coast from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
On our way, we're going to make new recordings of whatever we find... new textures of surf, sea lions, highway traffic, cable cars... anything and everything we can add to our continually growing sound effects collection. And YOU will be able to hear what we find!
But probably the most exciting part of the trip will be a chance to sit down with a few of our sound effects heroes to discuss the craft... and we will be recording the conversations to share with you!
We are still in the process of confirming who we will be able to interview on this trip, and specific interview guests are tentative and subject to availability… but one person that we are excited to announce is Ann Kroeber - an amazingly talented sound effects artist. Ann was married to the late Alan Splet, who is considered one of the first true motion picture sound designers. The two of them were partners and collaborators on many wonderfully emotionally evocative film sound tracks including "Blue Velvet," "Dune," "The Mosquito Coast," "The Elephant Man," "Dead Poets Society, " and "The Black Stallion," for which Alan won a Special Achievement Oscar for Sound Effects. Ann continues to work in the industry, and maintains the massive sound library that she and Alan created. We are thrilled to be able to hear her talk about her career.
We are also thrilled to confirm we'll be talking to Richard L. Anderson! Richard's amazing list of credits include "Gremlins," "Poltergeist," "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," "The Nightmare Before Christmas," and he's an Academy Award winner for his work on "Raiders of the Lost Ark." He'll be sharing some great stories from his career… and we might even sneak a few of his sounds into the interview itself…!
This adventure is being coordinated and supervised by Steve Lee, founder and head Sound Effects Wrangler at the Radiophonic Lab - a 25 year film sound veteran whose credits include "The Lion King," "Apollo 13," "Looney Tunes," and many others. He was also the sound designer of the famous Coca Cola "Polar Bear" campaign (and performed the voice of the bear himself).
Steve will be joined by at least two members of his crew. Due to the ever-changing schedules of our work, we will be introducing them in future updates as soon as they are confirmed.
Our fundraising goal includes rental of a car, video & audio equipment, and two-day travel to San Francisco and back. We have will rescheduled the trip for December to give us a chance to get closer to our goal. All rewards will still be honored. But please remember that specific interview guests are tentative and subject to availability.
Any additional money earned above and beyond our goal will go toward future audio and video productions, which we hope to continue producing for you. We are already looking into starting an ongoing monthly subscription for producing more original sounds, entertainment, and informative interviews.
Thank you so much for considering helping us make this event possible!
