W 1/5 Battle of Ramadi Reunion
Veterans of Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment have committed to the 10th anniversary of the Battle for Ramadi (Ar Ramadi, Iraq). In 2005, the unit was deployed together for 7 months of intense combat and have many members who moved on to the civilian sector. In an attempt to relieve some of those costs to individuals who are having trouble paying for the event (which will degrade max participation), I have requested that sponsorship via GoFundMe help with that effort.
For those of you unfamiliar with Iraq, the battles for Fallujah and Ramadi were pivotal successes in the Marine Corps. With high combat losses and many injured, the network of support becomes a very important portion of after-care for these veterans. Having reunions and social contact helps reduce some post-traumatic behaviors that would normally be more pronounced for an individual who is a veteran by themselves in their civilian social network.
This donation will be utilized to pay for a plate of food at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. Extra monies will be donated to individuals who require plane tickets, hotel rooms or other travel arrangements on a case by case basis.
Thank you for taking the time to look and help.
Sincerely,
David Mansfield
