Day Shelter for the Homeless
Donation protected
My name is Daniel Levison. I was born in Atlanta and live here with my family.
In October 2015 we created ReStart3:20 (Opening Doors To All Homeless) to support and help try and reduce the homeless population in the urban core of Atlanta.
We are requesting $125,000 which is what is needed to create a shower and laundry facility in our building in the West End.
The goal of ReStart3:20 is to help the Homeless of the West End community Restart their lives by being a hub for existing social and financial services by giving the homeless an avenue to be connected with the best support available for their specific need.
We currently provide support and hot meals every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights between 6:30 -9:00 PM To Atlanta's homeless.
We made the decision to expand our facility after having numerous discussions with "people in the know," and learning that there is a real shortage of shower and laundry facilities available to the homeless during the day.
Other facilities that are available to this population are often difficult, if not impossible, for those in need to access and/or gain entry.
Once our Low Barrier to Entry day shelter is created, we will also provide free office space for the array of social and financial services already available to the homeless to have access to the projected 125-150 visitors per day.
Our goal is to create this facility by the Spring of 2017.
We plan to create a pledge wall at the ReStart and will create a plaque for anyone that donates $1,000 or more.
Please help us provide the homeless with life’s basic comforts, warm showers and clean clothes, which we all take for granted.
Sincerely,
Daniel Levison
