Rebuild BraideO's Sound Lab
From Pamela Braide:
So this was how the early hours of the morning started. About 4.30 am.
I typed the following and I bet you did not know why.... It is good to have good neighbours.
Even though my brother effectively lost all his recording equipment and work and tools the alert and vigorous response of members of our Ediba community saved the whole building from going down. They took it personally and fought the fire as if it was thier own studio. So much so the fire service when they arrived (fairly fast as they were physically fetched) commended them.
No one was harmed and no one was in the building. It is by but separate from the home. Likely to be from an electric source. As I said but for that one studio the building still stands.
Braide Opubo I don't know what to say but let me try. The source of your creativity was not burnt and you will not only replenish but see abundance.
p.s. I think I had at least 2 albums worth of music in those ashes. I am alive. I can create more. It is NOTHING in comparison to the debris of the fire.
From Opubo Briade:
Its a priceless experience and I thank God for making me pass through this.
On Jan 17th. 2019 at about 3am BraideO's studio burnt down.
What may have been an electrical fault resulted in the destruction of over 25 years of irreplaceable intellectual property, recording equipment and the destruction of part of the building itself.
Everything's gone. Including personal laptops (my wife's too) and hard drives brought in to extract material for work. It is hard to know where to start. Everything's gone
Friends have asked me to start a go-fund me team page to raise money for equipment and repairs and I will start here.
Thanks to those who have reached out already and the Ediba community who saved the rest of the building.
A tiny bit of my work lives online on youtube ( search for "Opubo Braide")
Please check out my website to get an idea of what I am involved in: https://www.opubobraide.com
I thank this team from the bottom of my heart.
We can't replace the work lost but we can try to replace some equipment and fix the building through donations.
