Refugee Families Need Us!
Tax deductible
Remember when the refugee crisis first filled the news? Remember how you wanted to help an actual family? Now is your chance.
There are two refugee families--Syrian and Afghani-- who have been placed in Gloucester and who are in desperate need of our help.
They left everything behind. Imagine being ripped from your family, friends, profession, school, community, language, culture, climate, geography...
Funds are needed urgently. The limited funds they received from the refugee relief agency are running out. At this time it's not clear how basic bills will be paid in the new year.
Funds raised will be used for the essentials. Rent, utility bills, food, home goods, and other basic needs. The parents are learning English as fast as they can so they can get jobs and earn their own money, and the teenagers will be attending the high school. All of our local social service agencies have stepped in to provide services, but more is needed.
In our season of light and hope and with all that stands in our way, let this be the one thing we can do right now to make a direct impact on the lives of people who are new to our community and our country and who are in need of our help.
The families are eager to start their new lives in Gloucester, and your support will help make that possible. Please give today. Any contribution amount makes a difference.
A group of concerned Gloucester residents and the local interfaith community have organized this GoFundMe campaign. Funds will be collected and managed by West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church on behalf of the families. Campaign authors include Lara Lepionka, Peggy Russell, Susan Erony, Reverend Alice Erickson, David Russman, and Steven Lewis.
