Rosie The Roach Scholarship
Donation protected
I am a former student of the Texas A&M Department of Anthropology - Home of Rosie The Roach. After speaking with some of my fellow former students, we decided that Rosie should have a permanent memorial and scholarship in her name. Rosie's rise to fame is an excellent lesson in the making of modern mythos for budding anthropologists. Rosie may have lived as just a common cockroach, but in death she has touched our hearts and has the potential to change the lives of students to come by aiding them to fund their studies. Rosie is now legend across the world, and as Terry Pratchett once said, "Humans need fantasy to be human." In this wisdom, we find the impetus of culture itself. I cannot think of a more poetic way to teach students the spirit that drives anthropology. Please help us carry Rosie into the future with us by donating to create a memorial and permanent scholarship in her honor. The plan is for the scholarship to be awarded on the basis of need. The selection process will ask students to describe their need as well as submit a one to two page essay on the subject of small ideas creating large change in society. We are trying to raise as much money as possible to establish a permanent scholarship. However, if we do not meet our goal the money collected will be used to help as many students as the it can aid.
