Casa de Amistad is the longest serving Athens-area organization uniquely dedicated to serving the poorest and most resource-limited Hispanic members of our community. Unfortunately, without the financial support of Athens community members and businesses, it is likely that Casa de Amistad will need to permanently close its doors this year.
Those families desperate for even the most basic of necessities, including food, shelter, and employment, have been able to look to Casa de Amistad for well over a decade. In that time, more than 2,300 families have been helped! As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Casa routinely collaborates with Athens schools, businesses and service providers to lend a hand to Hispanic families. Those families in turn have enriched the Athens community with their skills, rich cultural traditions, and friendship.
Casa de Amistad’s translation/interpretive services, free English classes, food distribution program, and social services help Hispanic families in need become independent, contributing members of the community. Casa in turn provides invaluable support to Athens and North Georgia, helping place skilled Hispanics with businesses in need of their services locally, and providing free Spanish instruction to Athens community members.
The funds raised for Casa de Amistad will have an immediate, positive impact within the community. In order to ensure that these critically important services can continue to be offered in 2016, Casa is working to secure $20,000 by January 31, 2016.
Donors can be assured every dollar raised will be applied directly in support of Casa's programs that provide immediate support to those in most need. Please give generously knowing that your support will have an immediate, poisitive impact and help families to become independent and secure.
