Needing Help During Stroke Recovery

On October 26th I suffered a stroke. Not the way I expected my birthday month and favorite time of the year to go.

The Stroke or CVA affected the left side of my brain, which affected the right side of my body. I also am experiencing a very serious complication of Hyperglycemia. I was in the hospital about a week. I am currently waiting for appointments with Neurologist, Endocrinologist, Gastroenterologist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and more. I feel overwhelmed just thinking about all of it.

As an entrepreneur, I must admit I am worried about how I am going to be able to focus on healing while navigating the next two months of little to no work. Each Dr./Specialist has co-pays, testing, and whatever insurance doesn't pay. I also need to pay for transportation/medical rides to all medical visits. My closest family member is an hour and a half away and is about to have back surgery and her own host of issues. I honestly do not know or have anyone that I can depend on to be a support system.

In addition to the medical costs, I am fearful I can't provide for basic needs right now like groceries, water, electric, etc. There aren't many community resources in my area and I have already tapped family resources. The constant panic of wondering if my utilities will be shut off or if I will have enough to eat (and food has to be as healthy for Hyperglycemia as it possibly can, so I have to minimize the cheapest diet of lots of carbs because that can possibly kill me right now) keeps my stress level high and doesn't help with healing at all.

I have always been independent and hard working and self reliant. Asking for help doesn't come easy for me. This is a humbling experience.
