Shayla's Education Fund
Dear Family, Friends and to the Public
As many of you are now familiar or may not know, it has been a long few years for my daughter while trying to pursue her dreams to have her own Film Production company. While Shayla has beaten all odds from being raised in a single family home with her mother and brother, experiencing different life challenges in the urban community. But through it all at the age of 16 Shayla entered Metropolitan Community College through the Early College Association where she obtained her Associates of Arts Degree with a 3.7GPA & obtaining her High School Diploma with a 4.25GPA by the time she was 18 years old. During this time Shayla was Valedictorian with Perfect Attendance, Dean's Honor Role, while volunteering services in the community with Fringe Festival Play as a House Manager. She also volunteered with Early College Association 60 hrs tutoring, Macedonia Baptist Church 25 hrs of Assistance while obtaining part time jobs the entire 2 years working for the Dean of Metropolitan Community College. After graduation she currently attends The University of Missouri- Major BBA & Minor Film Studies, current Junior 3.9 GPA, 2016 Shayla is on the Dean's Honor Role & Top 10% of All Bloch Business Students. While working on campus part-time in the work study program as a Lab Assistant. Shayla has recieved some funds for a portion of her tuition from different organizations. We are so thankful and grateful for them helping her along the way. Shayla wants to obtain her Masters Degree and this has been a life long dream of hers. She has so much potential and works very hard each day to obtain her goals through education, volunteer work and remaining humble through her spiritual beliefs. There is a large part of her tution that is not covered which has become hard on our family. The round about estimates after her scholarship in tuition per year totaling around $18,000 to obtain her Bachelors degree. For her to obtain her Masters will be around an additional $44,000. We can not do this without the help of our community. Shayla wrote this "I want to own my own film company because I want to inspire people, stimulate people's minds, and bring happiness to people. I want little girls and boys, no matter what they look like, to feel beautiful and important when they see people that are like them on television. Finishing my business degree is important to me because I want to learn the skills of running my own company and marketing my movies. I want to create a better life for myself and others, and finishing my education is a stepping stone to doing that." I want everyone to see the gift that God has Blessed her with to share with you all. We will be so grateful of any donations to help her through this journey. Thank you so much.
