Shear the beard for Colin & Jason!

I've been bearded, short or long, for the majority of my adult life. Instead of sporting a moustache this year, I'm doing a charity beard shave this November. If we hit or exceed the goal, I will split all the money evenly between Jase and Colin, then walk my ass to the barber for a complete razor close shave!
Why? 2 friends of mine, athletes, and amazing young fathers. Jason and Colin are both fighting cancer, and have given us no signs of quitting. Their journeys are complex, gut wrenching, and inspiring. These 2 men give me more inspiration than any fitness meme could possibly generate. These are not only leaders, they are modern day heroes!
JASON NIBOURG
Jase celebrated his 34th birthday in September. He has plans to marry his beautiful fiance in the fall. Together, Jase and Michelle have three wonderful children, Peyton 9, Aiden 6, and Damien 2.
Plans change. Jase was just diagnosed with cancer... What an ugly word.
After a seemingly minor incident while training, Jase went into the hospital with what he thought may have been a bruised or cracked sternum. In actuality, a large tumour was found behind his sternum that is pressing against his heart. The cancer is quite aggresive and has spread into his entire chest cavity. Jase will be spending much of his time in Calgary for treatment and care.
Jase has spent many years working away from his family in the oilfield. The time away was difficult and in 2014 Jase made a decision to follow his dream. Starting his own business would allow him to support his family and be there to tuck his children into bed every night. Iron Ronin Strength & Conditioning was born. Jase has worked for almost two years to build his business as a mobile kettlebell instructor and conditioning coach. He has helped many people achieve success with their fitness goals and fostered meaningful relationships with many other local business owners in the great community of Red Deer. Working to support your family as an entrepreneur comes with a cost. One of the largest downfalls to being self-employed means you do not have the luxury of extensive insurance and health benefits that accompany the corporate world.
Why we need your help? As previously mentioned, Jase and Michelle have three fantastic kids and they need to be taken care of. Jase can no longer run his business, but that does not mean that his responsibilities as a provider and father stop. As an entrepreneur, he does not have the ability to take a paid leave or even receive long-term dissability. If and when Jase is discharged from the hospital, medications can come at an alarming cost. In all honesty, Jase is not concerned with his own future at the moment. But Michelle and these children need to be taken care of and they should be able to spend time and support Jase without the added stress of household and medical bills. Funds raised will be used to help with the day-to-day living expenses to care for the children, medications for Jase, and travel costs to and from Calgary.

High school teacher from Edmonton, Ab, Canada. Father of 4 young kids and husband to a brave woman. Referee hockey all winter to pay for my triathlon addiction all Summer. Also, a 7x Ironman Finisher. At 33 years of age Colin was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. This has not stopped him as he continues to train despite bi-weekly chemotherapy. He is scheduled to race Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Ironman Muskoka and Ironman Arizona in 2015.
