Sofia's Kind Heart

“My name is Sofia and I'm 7 years old. I am using my voice to raise money for the Fred Jordan Mission because I like helping people.” 

As Sofia’s parents, we created “Sofia‘s Kind Heart” to give our 7-year- old daughter an early start in the world of giving back. We introduced her to a number of ways to help other people, and when she expressed an interest in helping homeless children, we arranged a meeting through Willie Jordan, director of the Fred Jordan Mission, which serves thousands of homeless individuals and families in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles. Skid Row is a filthy, sad, dangerous, heartbreaking, depressing, and destructive place. Filled with cheap hotels, flophouses, drugs, and crime, Skid Row is “home” to men, women and little children. Since 1944, Fred Jordan Missions has worked on the streets of inner city Los Angeles and throughout the world to help share God’s love by providing nourishing food, warm clothing, blankets, and other vital services to people in need.
