Help Stephen, Stefanie & Izzy
Donation protected
This was set up by friends of Stephen to help him and his family with medical and living expenses. Here is why they need your help...
Stephen was riding his bicycle to work on the Tuesday morning after Labor Day when a driver in an SUV took a right turn in front of him. Stephen swerved to avoid the SUV but in doing so, lost control and was thrown from his bike. The driver did not stop and, although he was not hit by the vehicle, Stephen is now in Trauma ICU at the Med (Regional One Medical Center) due to his injuries, where he has remained unconscious since the accident. He has bruising and swelling in the brain and his doctors are hoping the swelling goes down on it's own to avoid brain surgery.
Stephen and his wife, Stefanie, have an 20-month-old daughter, Izzy. He has been the primary income and though Stefanie works full-time, she is also attending full-time classes to finish her degree. Knowing insurance will not cover all of his medical expenses Stefanie is taking steps to minimize expenses, including putting their house up for sale. They planned to sell the house soon, but the timeline has been moved up to help alleviate that expense.
I don't want to get too deep into their personal life, but this gives you an idea of the help that they need now and in the months to come.
This may seem like a lofty goal but as one friend put it, "Go big or go home!" so let's help Stephen and his family as much as we can.
