Support AJ, Christy And Flynn

AJ and Christy were pretty much high school sweethearts. Falling in love and travelling together was just the beginning of their life together. They married in 2012 and have a beautiful 2 year old, Flynn, who is cheeky and cute and their everything.

On Saturday April 29th, Christy and little Flynn dropped AJ off at a mates house in anticipation for a bucks weekend. They said goodbye for the night, with a simple see you tomorrow.

We hear of these terrible tragedies happening to other people, and never in our wildest dreams think that they can happen to us.

Enjoying a day on a boat, AJ entered shallower than expected water and has injured his C5 vertebrae. He was held up by his mates in the water for approx 2 hrs before emergency services could reach him.

AJ was taken to the Gold Coast Uni Hospital for assessment. It was confirmed he has shattered his C5 vertebrae, and has been transferred to the Spinal Ward at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in an induced coma to assist his body cope with the trauma and for the specialists to plan his recovery.

Where to from here? Surgeons are operating today, but have said to expect for him to have no feeling or movement from his neck down.

How can you help? We are hoping to raise money initially to help support the limbo they are in, to cover accomodation costs, buying equipment to support AJ's new needs, etc. At the moment, AJ and Christy are supported by family, but longterm - the stress of adjusting to a new everyday routine, living expenses, care, support and bills - will eventually weigh down upon their little family of 3. As you know, AJ isn't the type of person to ask for financial help or handouts but with the tragedy that has unfolded we are asking for donations of any amount - they will be so greatly appreciated.
