Take off or Take the Fall!

My name is Sarah Marie Wood and I represent Mirror Productions and Publications, a 'community umbrella' to assist developing artists to produce and publish their work as they intended. Although I am now 52 years old, in March of 1991 I was 27 and learning to adjust to some unexpected life challenges. I began writing the music and libretto for a dance-opera that is now (finally!!!) finished and ready for production. The 'team' amalgamated in the New Year and we are getting ready to burst forth with this project entitled "Take off or Take the Fall" scheduled for 3 performances at the Port Theater in Nanaimo, March 30th and March 31rst. The production requires a cast of 8 triple-threat singer/dancer/actors and an ensemble of 4 musicians, as well as a 5 person production team. Our "gofundme" campaign will run from today until the last day of March, 2016. In that this is a premier performance of a virtually unknown work, we are only renting three days at our local theater using their rendition of theater-in-the-round for a total of 450 seats on the stage. This severely limits our revenue even if we should fill the seats and will cover about one half of the production costs including theater and tech-crew rental. The money collected here through your donations will pay for the balance owed to cast, production team members and musicians. We are working feverishly and excitedly to launch a premier performance of a challenging though inspiring and timely piece that I believe will enjoy a wonderful birth into the world of theater and dance!!! This piece reflects what I have come to know and experience as the reason for living - which is to belong, no matter what our circumstances, to this human family and learn, albiet falteringly, to truly and un-inhibitedly love to eternity this gift of life. My gratitude will be expressed in encouraging any and all persons with disabilities or challenges of any kind to share their life's passion and contribution through any and all art-forms with the assistance and manifest kindness of others.
