Tobin & Shane's Fire Campaign
Tobin and Shane need our help!
***UPDATE***
I never expected we would reach our $10,000 goal in the first 2 days! Truly inspiring! Everyone is very touched by the outpouring of generosity from so many.
Now that the original goal has been reached we are encouraging people to support the Red Cross and all of their efforts to support those affected across the province.
Family, friends and others who still wish to help support Tobin & Shane directly will still be able to do so here.
I will be keeping the fund open and have raised the goal so those who chose to do so may continue to offer assistance.
Thank YOU!
Alexis

*** Message From Tobin ***
We have received so much love and support since the fire started, our hearts are bursting. It's been difficult to find words that do justice to our gratitude, and almost impossible to hold back tears when yet another person reaches out with an offer of help.
We have been focusing on getting our girls what they need. They are healthy, happy, clothed, and fed, and that is due to the efforts of our friends and family, and the beautiful kindness of strangers. The clothes, toys, baby items, books and other donations have helped ease so much of the stress of losing our home. The success of the gofundme account set up for us is unbelievable, and we sincerely thank each donor.
We've also been shown such compassion and empathy from others affected by the fires this summer. This afternoon a 100 mile evacuee who lost her farm to the wildfires dropped off a care package for our girls from her 6 year old sons. There are no words.
This summer's fires have destroyed so many homes and memories. They have also shown how genuinely good people can be to each other. To those who have helped us, we will be forever grateful and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
Tobin & Shane

My name is Alexis and my beautiful friends Tobin & Shane, and their 2 little girls have lost their house and everything they own in the Monte Lake, BC fire last night (July 26). Thankfully they are all safe! There home and property on the other hand, are gone.
For those of us who live too far to hug them in person, let's send them hugs made of dollars to help them through this devastating moment.
Shane was at work when the evacuation order was set and Tobin and the girls were in town. They were not allowed to return home to save anything and quite literally have nothing left but eachother and the clothes on their backs.
The coming months are going to be challenging for Tobin and Shane as they work to rebuild their lives while caring for their 2yo and 4mo daughters. Caring for 2 kids under 3 is challenging enough on a regular day in your home with their toys, diapers, beds, etc.
Your donations will go towards helping with their immediate needs such as:
- Food
- Diapers
- Gas and travel expenses
- Clothing for Shane, Tobin, and the girls
- Care assistance for the girls while Tobin and SHane deal with all the logistics
- Transitional housing as they await news on their future
Shane and Tobin have worked so hard to create a life for their family and just moved in to this home less than 6 months ago. Anything we can send will help ease their transition into this new reality and know it will be greatly appreciated!
Over our 20 years of friendship, I have watched as Tobin has thrived in the face of every challenge she has encountered in life and strived toward every goal she sets. She is one of the strongest, most determined people I have ever had the joy to meet. Shane is the kind of man who, upon his first visit to meet us, spent hours fixing up our washing machine to help us out when we couldn't afford a new one. These are good people.
I know that together Shane and Tobin will rise above this challenge too and thrive once again.
It is hard to estimate how much help they will need along the way. As the situation changes, their needs may change and I will update here with news and any other ways we can help. Tobin has sole access to the money raised. I do not and will not be accessing any monies donated - it is all for the family.
Thank you to everyone who has read this story, and our never ending THANKS to everyone who helps out! You are wonderful and we love you!
