If you saw him on stage you were awed and inspired.  If you met him you were charmed and encouraged.  If you knew him you loved him.  

As an actor, writer, director, and teacher Tony Molina Jr. touched the lives of thousands of people across the country.  We want to give him a lasting legacy in the form of a memorial to his spirit and artist's life.

Help us raise $2000  to turn Tony's 'bungalow', a small studio apartment behind his childhood home, into the Tony Molina Memorial Arts Bungalow.   We hope this will be a place for artists of all kinds to create, meet, rest, and enjoy a safe, beautiful space.  

With $2000 dollars (or more) we would place a mural of Tony on an external wall, make modest improvements to the interior, and beautify the greenspace around the Bungalow with  a garden of flowers and herbs.

Anthony “Tony” Molina, Jr, a legend in New Orleans theater, died peacefully in his home in New Orleans on Saturday, April 1st at the age of 46.

Tony is survived by three siblings: Ayanna, Michael and Nia, step-mother Sonya Molina, grandmother Mary Mason, and his beloved nephews and nieces: Derrick, Xavier, Kamau, Jua, Maya, Niani and Miles. He is preceded in death by his mother Sandra Frederick and father Anthony Molina, Sr.

Born on March 17, 1971, Tony attended McDonogh 35 and NOCCA where he won state and national speech and debate championships. Tony performed Shakespeare at Tulane and LSU’s Swine Palace, playing male lead in Macbeth, Hamlet, and Othello. His film and television credits include True Detective and Treme. A writer, director, and master teacher, Tony performed and taught drama in schools across the country.

Tony’s celebration of life will take place at the Parkview Terrace above Morning Call restaurant in City Park, 56 Dreyfous Dr, from 2-5pm on Saturday, April 8th, 2017.
