Hi, I am Mihail Strezev, a young Organist from Moldova, Europe. I was born in the family of musicians. My grandfather was the first musician in the family. Born in a poor village he had been always feeling a huge love to music. He decided to leave his village and move to the capital of Moldova - Chisinau to become a musician. He made a long way barefoot with a little suitcase. Years later it was a great, famous Choir Conductor. His children followed in his footsteps. His daughter - my mother, went to Moscow where she graduated from the Moscow Conservatory as an Organist and Musical Theoretician. She become a great, famous Organist, awarded as a National Artist of Moldova. She became my teacher when I felt an inspiration to play the organ. Now it is my turn to make a long way to Music, as a continuation of the grandfather's and mother's way. There is a following story of how my way has started.
In 2017, being an organ student still living in Moldova, I won Green Card by an "accident". I was seating in the park and eating ice cream, when two agents from USA Immigration Company approached me and offered to fill out a simple form to participate in the Green Card lottery. I did it and forgot about it on the next second. A year later they called me and changed my life with the news that I am the winner.
A year later, in the USA, I came to the concert, dedicated to the newly installed organ. It was a great organ in a great church, and a great organist was performing on that instrument. World wide known, he was invited to be the first to breathe life into the organ. After concert I thanked him for the beautiful performance and told him my story. He asked me to play for him. When I finished, he invited me to become his student in the one of the top musical universities in the world - Eastman School of Music, where he teaches Organ.
In the spring of 2019 I was accepted there for the two year Master's program starting in 2019 with the award of $22,000. The cost of the one year tuition is $39,000. The cost of the one year living is $15,000, but I will be able to live with $10,000.
According to this, to be able to begin study I need to raise $27,000 for the first year. In case of excellent study I will be able to receive full tuition for the second year, so I will work as hard as I can! And I believe that years later with those of you who God brought to me and with your blessed help I will contribute something important into the world playing classical music, as my grandfather and my mother did.
Because the world needs true musicians.
