Send our Directors to Okinawa!

Donation protected
The U.S. and offshore Directors of the Okinawa Shorin Ryu Matsumura Orthodox Karate and Kobudo Federation are traveling to Okinawa in mid-October 2017. The travelers are:

- Hanshi John Shipes, 8th Dan - OSMKKF-USA Director
- Hanshi Jeff Ader, 8th Dan - OSMKKF-USA Director
- Kyoshi Loren Engelby, 7th Dan - OSMKKF-USA Director Designate
- Kyoshi Taco Aguilar, 7th Dan - OSMKKF-USA Offshore Director, South and Central America and the Caribbean

The reason for this trip - and why it is worth our attention, as OSMKKF students, friends and family:

The year 2016 was historic for the OSMKKF and for Ken Shin Kan Karate. Hanshi John Shipes (OSMKKF-USA Director) and Hanshi Jeff Ader (OSMKKF-USA Director) announced mid-year that Grand Master Fusei Kise and Kaicho Isao Kise had approved the appointment of two new directors.

Kyoshi Francisco "Taco" Aguilar was named OSMKKF-USA Offshore Director. Our dojo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Puerto Rico fall under his direction.

Kyoshi Loren Engelby was named OSMKKF-USA Director Designate and he will share responsibility for the US dojo with Hanshi Ader and Hanshi Shipes.

Although all four men have met with our leadership in Okinawa in the past, this trip marks the first time all will meet in Okinawa with Grand Master and Kaicho. During this trip, they will confer with our Okinawan leadership on the goals for the Federation and will establish strategies for how our U.S. contingency can be part of meeting those goals.

In addition, the Directors will train with Grand Master and Kaicho, ensuring cohesiveness in techniques and customs, courtesies and protocol among our U.S. dojo.

This campaign will help pay for plane tickets and hotel accommodations on the trip. As the price of tickets varies greatly throughout the year, every effort will be made to keep costs low.

Any funds raised over the goal amount will go into an account managed by OSMKKF members who will be accountable directly to the U.S. Directors, who will make decisions regarding the use of the funds in keeping with the goals of our leaders in Okinawa.
