Welcome to USA Shaolin Temple’s fundraiser for a beautiful Buddhist Temple in Fleischmanns, NY! 

USA Shaolin Temple was founded in 1994 by its Abbot, Shifu Shi Yan Ming, a 34th generation Shaolin Warrior Monk. Shi Yan Ming defected from communist China to the US in 1992 while on the first-ever Shaolin Temple Monks tour of the United States. In 1994 he established USA Shaolin Temple.
His life's goal is to protect and preserve the Shaolin Buddhist philosophy of peace and respect, and to spread this philosophy to as many people as possible. Unfortunately, the Shaolin Temple in China no longer accepts or trains young disciples. It now operates as a heritage site, using the physical premises for tourism. The Chan Buddhist principles brought to China 1500 years ago by the Indian monk, Bodhidarma, are now in serious danger of disappearing.

In 2010, USA Shaolin Temple planted permanent roots. Through contributions from Shifu’s students and disciples, the Temple purchased 80.88 acres of land in Fleischmanns, NY.


Countless hours of volunteer labor and generous financial contributions went into the Temple's progress.





To date, we have been able to:

· Purchase 80.88 acres of land

· Renovate 9 existing buildings

· Purchase 72 beds for 3 lodges

· Renovate 2 houses for staff

· Build a bathhouse and equip it with 12 toilets, 10 showers, 12 sinks, 4 urinals

· Renovate 1 mess hall and equip it with a commercial 8' wide kitchen

· Purchase seating for 72 guests in the mess hall

· Build 1 office building

· Renovate a 120 year-old barn

· Build 1 pump house with 2 wells

· Lay of over 1 mile of water pipes

· Demolish 5 unsafe buildings

· Build a Buddha Pavilion

· Re-gravel 1/4 mile road from the gutters at main street level to the on-site buildings.

Progress has been tremendous.  At present, the property is 80% complete. But the remaining 20% is most vital: the actual Buddhist temple!

What the Temple needs is a structure to allow year-round training in martial arts; a place to hold ceremonies; a permanent home for an altar and meditation room.

· Engineering/Architectural Plans: $20,000

· Temple Foundation: $35,000

· Labor and Supplies: $70,000

· New Power Lines & Poles: $40,000

· Connection of Temple to Bathhouse: $15,000

· Gate into the Property: $10,000

· Parking Lot: $8,000

· Restructuring Road: $15,000

· Renovation of Shifu Shi Yan Ming’s Cabin: $7,000

Cha’an Buddhism encourages everyone to bring good to the world, to do good, and not bad, to help yourself by helping others. Your time to do so is precious. 

With your help, the philosophy will be able to survive, and thrive! Your generosity will allow Shifu to provide lessons in Ch’an philosophy year-round on Shaolin land. Your love will help Temple provide a home to a beautiful altar and meditation room. It would allow Temple to host joyous ceremonies, like weddings, birthdays, and seminars. And your support will help Temple jumpstart its ambitious orphanage program, which seeks to take in orphaned children from all over the world and allow them to live the true Shaolin way.
The time to act is now! If the Temple is not complete within Shifu Shi Yan Ming's lifetime, the direct transmission of the knowledge, history, philosophy, and traditions of Shaolin will be lost forever.
