Friday morning January 26 Vera spiked a high fever. We saw her PCP and she tested negative for flu and RSV and he didn't see anything in her lungs on the xray. We went home and she was pretty good until about 9pm then she started desatting a little. By 10pm she was desatting badly, running a high fever again and in respiratory distress so I rushed her to Mercy ER and they got her to the back right away. After several breathing treatments, she was still in distress and getting tired so they put her on a ventilator. We were flown to Children's via Angel One at about 2:30 am. She has double pneumonia and a urinary tract infection. They also found something unexpected. After xraying her chest again, Doctors believe her lungs are too small and her ribs are too narrow, not letting the lungs grow as they should, putting pressure on her heart. If that's the case there's nothing they can do but keep her comfortable. They are doing everything they can to get her better. She is stable but still in critical condition. Like with everything else we just wait and see. I am crushed, sad, angry and my heart is torn apart. My little red headed wonder girl is so special to me. And she is very sick. Pray please.
