My name is Veronica Callum and I’m a single parent of two girls. As a single mom I have had life’s share of hard-work, struggles, and disappointments. However, my love for my daughters propelled me to look beyond our many challenges, and focus, rather, on the future that I believed laid before us - a future that included seeing my daughters graduate from high school and college. I worked tirelessly and joyfully with this future in mind; ever grateful and hopeful for tomorrow. However, we had not anticipated our “tomorrow” to bring metastasized stage 4 colorectal cancer, disability, unemployment, and a fight for my life.
On September 21, 2013, I became very ill with excruciating back pain that resulted in an emergency surgery on October 8, 2013 for a pelvic mass. A month later I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. I immediately had a second surgery that removed part of my colon followed by intensive chemotherapy and radiation therapy in 2014. Over the 2 years that followed I have had many hospitalizations and surgeries from the severe side-effects of numerous treatments. I was eventually told by my oncologist on May 27th, 2016 that I have a rare genetic strain of cancer that does not respond to conventional medicine, and currently there were no clinical trials available to me.
But there is hope. I am currently consulting with a medical practitioner that offers alternative treatment and who has worked successfully with people like me. But I need your financial help. Please help us to raise $15,000 to cover an intensive 6- month treatment protocol, followed by another 6 months of less intensive treatment.
Given the seriousness of my current medical condition, immediate treatment is necessary. I need to immediately raise $6,000 as down-payment for treatment to begin in June 2016.
Please help me to achieve my lifelong dream of seeing my daughters graduate from high school and college. Please help me to see them grow into adulthood. My daughters and I thank you in advance for your financial support.
