Help V.E.T.S. Go Live for Veterans!
Tax deductible
Welcome! I'm Ed Herlik, one of the co-founders of V.E.T.S. and the guy our social media team pushed in front of the camera. They'll pay for that ...
I'm here to ask for your help in growing our 501(c)3 nonprofit incorporated for 'Veteran Employment Team Success' (IRS determination #17053086357004). You can see that GoFundMe checked our IRS status and put the 'Certified Charity' logo on this page. That means donations go to the charity's account and not to an individual (as with other appeals). It also means you'll get a tax receipt if you decide to donate towards our veterans.
V.E.T.S. and you can help yourself while helping with our Reward Levels. Donate anything and we'll keep you informed of our progress. You'll then be able to join our service as soon as we're done with beta testing (please be generous).
-- For now, that reward program shows as the $5 level because we're stuck with the page's format. Don't use it: use the "Donate a Different Amount" choice instead and enter any amount you like.
Donate $50 and you'll be prepaid for our culture matching . Donate a little more and you can put anyone else you like into that database. Those two reward level forms are OK.
Donate $40 or more monthly and you can give this service to a new person each month! Use the "Donate a Different Amount" and 'monthly' check box for that one.
-- GFM isn't flexible enough for all of those choices (like 'donate anything' and 'monthly rewards') so we'll take care of you individually.
Bonus: this is lifetime service! That's right - there are no fees for life!
This breakthrough capability matters, and not just to veterans. Here's what a college student has to say about us:
This campaign is an end of year request for just the little bit of support we need to launch nationwide. Please, seriously consider us for your year-end donations and also tell all of your worthwhile friends.
Yes, we know there are many similar sounding efforts like us, but we’re unique in at least two ways:
-- We figured out how to mathematically match veterans (or anyone) into cultures where they’ll fit.
-- We don’t attempt to train veterans to be civilians so as to minimize their service experience (interview prep, resumes, dress, buzzwords, etc.).
Currently, America suffers a 43% veteran employment failure rate according to Syracuse University, with young enlisted troops being the worst off. Vets don’t fail for skills or work ethic, they fail because they’re on the wrong team when another vet may thrive in the same job. Me too - here my short story.
Veterans are extra valuable for their leadership, problem solving, and initiative culture - their employers will thrive if they end up on the right team. We can do that!
We’ll use your tax-deductible donation primarily in two ways:
-- First, we’ll hire more veterans directly to continue our work (such as in the critical automation phase we have to pay for now).
-- We’ll also support a Public Benefit Corporation (social enterprise) that hires vets as project managers to create new consumer products.
Besides employing vets, that social enterprise also creates American light manufacturing jobs for people with developmental disabilities like autism. We were sadly surprised to learn how hard it is for such talented Americans to become independent - even government program rules prohibit them from earning a living wage.
We’ll use some of your support to organize the first assembly shops and also change those harmful bureaucratic rules. How great is that - vets leading new developments that tap into autistic abilities to bring light manufacturing back to the US!
So again, please help VETS while helping those you care about. Also, please jeck out some of our other accounts o Facebook and Twitter. This is the best win-win.
If GoFundMe’s donation process doesn’t work for you (such as you need a cancelled check), please write directly to EHerlik(at)VetsWhoFit(dot)org. We’ll figure it out.
