Planting Seeds to Grow Our School
Donation protected
Our little school in the woods of Central Virginia is growing. With the help of generous donors like you, we have added 20 new students and two new buildings in the last few years, and are seeking $5,100 to help us grow even further in 2018-19!
Our graduates regularly earn awards and scholarships to attend respected colleges and universities. Our inspired teachers help students keep their love of learning throughout their years in school while acquiring the skills they need to excel in college and beyond. Below is Hanan Davis reading her First Place prize-winning poem at the Randolph College SciFest Poetry Jam in March:
To help sustain WCEC's growth and quality of education, we are seeking funds to build our campus and to build important programs for the students. Last year, monies received from our fundraiser provided salary support for new teachers, equipment for the elementary playground, funds for faculty development, and the groundwork for a new playground for the Primary. Below, Junior high students help to assemble new playground equipment:
This Spring, we are planning to use funds to
1. establish a building fund for expansion into a new building in fall of 2019;
2. continue to build the school library,
3. continue to develop the Primary playground,
4. provide equipment and materials for science labs and arts programs, and
5. expand horizons beyond rural Virginia by establishing a Senior Trip Program. Every four years, the senior high students will plan a major field trip as a capstone to their WCEC experience. This year, the senior high will be traveling to Washington D.C. where they will have the opportunity to go to an awards ceremony for youth leaders at the U.S. State Department along with a personal tour of the capitol and museum visits.
Our gratitude for your help knows no bounds. Your donation, no matter how small (or large!) makes our high-quality adventure in learning possible. Please donate today! Thanks!
