William Yates Medical Expenses
Donation protected
On Saturday May 21, 2016 at approximately 7:30pm my Uncle William went to visit freinds to watch the Cavs hopefully pull in a win. Unfortunately he didn't get to see that game. When William knocked on the door he was greeted by not only a person...but a pit bull that wasn't going to allow him access to the home. William's instinct was to block the dog with his left arm and try to pull the dog off with his right hand. The dog locked on to his arm and wouldn't let go. William pulled the collar so hard that it broke, but all that did was make the dog even more angry. The attack went on for approximately 7 minutes and caused damage that may leave him with some loss of mobility in his left arm, left leg and right hand. William managed to kick the dog off and into the house. Once inside the house and the door locked, the dog turned on a female occupant of the home and attacked her as well. Luckily her injuries were not as serious. EMS/911 was called while the attack was taking place.

William has sustained injuries to much of his body, though he was lucky the dog spared his neck and face. William has wounds that are too deep for stitches and must be packed with gauze as needed. He has a hole on the right side of his chest along with scratches that present a constant worry of infection. He has a bite and scratches on the upper left side of his chest. His right hand was tore open with the tendons being shred and his thumb broke. His left hand was also bit and his fingers stitched. The worst of his injuries are on his left arm AND right hand AND left leg. The arm has damage on both sides and many wounds that are too deep for stitches. The left arm has loss of mobility in his hand and arm at this time...as well as the right arm having loss of mobility. He currenty has an appointment for surgery to repair the damage and will also have to have plastic surgery on that hand and arm. His left leg has muscle damage and at this time because of swelling and damage the doctors are unsure if he will have to have surgery or not.
Unfortunately William and his wife Shelly work for the same company, but on different shifts so that they are able to provide for their 3 year old daughter. At this time she is also unable to work because William needs constant medical attention and help doing the simplest of tasks. The money raised from this campaign will be used to pay for the surgeries he will endure and to provide for the family during this difficult time. Any and all donations are needed to help them immediately.
This is a hard working family that never asks for anything. They are strong together and will get through this, but it will be a long road of recovery for not only William but his family as well.
On behalf of William, Shelly and their children I would like to thank all of you for your continued support, prayers and donations. Thank you very much!
