A chance to Live for Lil Blessing

Lil Blessing shouldn't be alive. She was born with her nose first and no legs showing. Against all odds and with the dedication of a team of horse women and a good veterinarian she managed to survive with her nose out and no birthing progress for 1 hr. After a traumatic birth involving chains, lubrication, and a lot of grit she was pulled free only to discover that she had a crippling condition know as contracted tendons. She has a severe case where her initial leg angle was 90 degrees. She couldnt extend her legs beyond that because her tendons are too short for her length of leg. She cannot stand. She requires 24hr care. We are determined to let this otherwise healthy, strong filly live. Mama mare has been the most amazing first time mom and has allowed a group of strangers milk her and hand feed her foal. We have been doing this every 30min since birth the morning of March 11th. We have been giving her IV medication to loosen the muscles and tendons and combined this with fabricated leg braces to give stead traction. Her braces stay on for 2hrs and off for 1hr then back on again. The medicine can be very hard on her little body so we have been counteracting that with IV fluids to encourage the kidneys to maintain normal function. Every pee is a victory. Every attempt to stand is a victory. Every little whicker and nuzzle is a victory. We are asking our friends, family, and fellow horse lovers to help us give Lil Blessing a chance at life.
