New hope for threatened sea turtles
Sea turtles need your help! Your donation can directly help the research aimed at conserving CRITICALLY ENDANGERED sea turtles! Griffith University based PhD student, marine scientist Ryan Pearson, has developed a new way of tracking the movement of migrating sea turtles by analysing the barnacles that grow on them! Ryan is currently focused on the south Pacific sub-population of loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta), which are considered critically endangered, making them one of the most in need sea turtle populations for conservation worldwide.
Your donation will go directly to identifying the home foraging area of nesting loggerhead turtles in the south Pacific for a fraction of the cost of other techniques!
The goal of $2,000 will allow Ryan to identify the home areas of 35 turtles. This will greatly improve our knowledge of south Pacific loggerhead turtles, and improve the effectiveness of management and conservation actions for this critically endangered sub-population of sea turtles.
