A Woman of Faith Mauled by 2 Dogs
Donation protected
The love of God, Singing and walking. If you know my Mother then you KNOW that these are the things that drive her daily. My Mother, Marion Fowler and I were visiting Chicago to help to take care of one of our relatives, who passed away on April 22, 2018, due to cancer. We were planning to leave Chicago on Friday, May 4, 2018, to go home. (She lives in Nashville, Tennessee and I live in Northern California but a tragic, unforeseen event occurred that has dramatically altered my mother’s life. While taking what should have been her daily, relaxing walk around the block, my mother was viciously attacked by 2 large pit bulls, leaving her with life threatening injuries. The attack occurred just three houses down the street from where we were staying. Were it not for a Good Samaritan, Mr. Gregory Malette, intervening, those dogs would probably have killed my mom. We are so thankful and will be eternally grateful for the Good Samaritan who put his own life at risk trying to save her. We are also grateful to the 2 Chicago Police Officers that put themselves at risk as well. The Police are still searching for the owner of the 2 dogs.
Currently she is in the Acute Care ICU of Stroger Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She has suffered extensive blood loss and they are fighting to save her right leg. She has serious bite wounds on her left leg and right arm as well. So far she has had 2 surgeries and will need many more. If her leg is saved the skin grafting surgeries will involve even more procedures. At this point we are just not sure.
We expect my mother, Marion, to make a full recovery and walk again because that is what we are praying for. We have no idea what lies ahead of us in regards to her care while we are here in Chicago and the needs that will arise upon release or during the rehabilitation and adjustment process. We need to be financially prepared.
As many of us know many senior citizens, including my Mother, are on a fixed income. Since lives in Nashville, which only adds to the tremendous financial strain placed both of us and our family as she recovers. Being mauled by dogs isn’t something you ever expect to happen or could plan for. I don’t want my mother to have worry about finances, I just want her focus solely on recovering so that she walk again and return to her normal, happy and peaceful life.
Although you cannot put a price on recovery we know that the expenses will continue to mount, so that is why I am establishing this Go Fund Me Account, in hopes of being able to focus on her immediate and long-term care while in Chicago. Any amount you choose to donate will be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I ask that you join the many friends and strangers who are praying for my mother to have a full and speedy recovery as well as my family that is still reeling from the death of my cousin just 2 weeks ago. Thank you and God Bless You.
With Gratitude,
