Justice4Sanaz Living Costs
Dear Supporters:
During the past 6 months, Justice4Sanaz have recieved wonderful support. Already, 4 university student unions have come out in emphatic solidarity with the campaign; they are, King's College London, Royal Holloway, Bradford University, and Bristol University.
Last month, the National Union of Students (NUS) Summer Black Student Conference passed motion 102a resolving to support the Justice4Sanaz campaign. The campaign has had a further boost with the signatures of well-known intellectuals, such as Hamid Dabashi, professor of Iranian and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, BAFTA nominated director and lecturer at Newcastle University, Tina Gharavi, British political and race-relation activist, Lee Jasper, British journalist and human rights activist, Ewa Jasiewicz and last but not least, professor at the University of York, Baroness Afshar, OBE.
However, the fight is not over yet. Sanaz is in dire need of financial assistance at this time. The campaign is now fighting two fronts:
1. Filing necessary documents to take the case against the University of Leeds for a Judicial Review
2. Trying to keep Sanaz legally in the United Kingdom in order to see her case through for a judicial review.
On top of this, Sanaz has been evicted from her former residence at Montague Burton (University of Leeds halls of residence) and now living with a Justice4Sanaz supporter. However, she will need to move again on the 30th June and is looking for a new place to live.
Sanaz lives on as little as £15 per week and this is having a drastic affect on her health; perventing her from getting the necessary medication for her disability, functional limb weakness.
Sanaz desperately needs financial assistance to (a) seek legal help (b) find a permanent place to live and (c) have money to take care of her health and basic survival needs.
The Justice4Sanaz campaign would greatly appreciate any amount to this fundraiser drive. Together, we can stop universities treating and abusing international students like cash cows!
In solidarity!
