There’s a reason you can't spell STEAM without "team!" We need your help!

My name is Susan White. I am the Kindergarten - 5th Grade STEAM teacher at Arkansas Arts Academy in Rogers, AR.

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

A MakerSpace is an inspiring, engaging environment, where student ideas can thrive and come to fruition using the STEAM approach to learning. From furniture and tools to software and invention kits, we need resources to build our MakerSpace and, more importanlty, a culture of students who:

· take thoughtful risks

· persist in real world problem-solving

· design using the creative process

· embrace collaboration

We need to secure funds to transform our blank space:

into a MakerSpace:

This will be a safe place for students to get their hands dirty, applying the knowledge from their core classrooms to projects, experiments, and challenges that ignite their passion and inspire their future endeavors.

STEAM projects for the students include:

·         Community beautification (gardening, murals, etc.)

·         Coding/Gaming/Robotics projects

·         Engineering challenges

·         Creating simple machines

·         Circuitry

·         Woodworking

·         Real-world problem solving ("How can we keep the squirrels from stealing food from our campus birdhouses?")

·         Independent projects created by the students themselves!

Your funding will bring our vision to life by providing the following resources:

·         Hand Tools

·         Circuitry Kits

·         Makey Makey Invention Kits

·         Project-based learning software

·         Lumber

·         Sink installation

·         Hardwiring for student computers

·         Functional storage/furniture pieces

Your donation will be a long lasting investment in the students of Northwest Arkansas. Not only are you providing resources to help them reach their creative potential through design and experiential learning, you are  making it known that you believe kids can change the world!

Thank you so much for considering our project! #WeLoveTeachers
