An accessible car for April
Donation protected
This is my friend Kathleen Eastland and her daughter April Cookston. April is 12 years old and has cerebral palsy, she is fully dependent on an electric wheelchair for her mobility needs. With her 400 pound electric wheelchair, she also requires a vehicle to transport her and the chair. In June 2017, Kathleen and April were on their way to April’s 5th Grade graduation trip when a woman pulled out in front of her and totaled her van. The woman responsible did not have any insurance and Kathleen’s insurance did not cover any of the damage to their 2001 Grand Caravan. Kathleen is still making payments on that vehicle that is no longer drivable and she can not afford another wheelchair accessible vehicle. I am making this Go Fund Me page to help Kathleen and April. Wheelchair vehicles are VERY expensive. A brand new van with a wheelchair ramp conversion could cost anywhere from $45,000-$65,000. Their lives without a proper accessible vehicle make it very difficult to get April to school and therapy. This situation is unfair beyond words. Please help with any amount you can. 40k would cover the cost of the totaled van and a down payment for a new one. The more we raise, the better! #ktuv #susankanggordon #channel2news
