Aunt Cheryl’s Café, Ms. Cathy Turner-Welsh, and Summer Lee are joining forces to bring the Black Panther Challenge to the Woodland Hills School District!! We would like to take 100 students to see this movie with super heroes that look like them!!
Representation matters! Aunt Cheryl’s Café is located in Braddock in the district, Ms. Cathy Turner-Welsh is an involved parent and community member and founding member of Moms for the Misunderstood, and Summer Lee is a graduate of Woodland Hills High School currently running for the state representative seat in the 34th district.
Our kids need to see faces that look like theirs in their schools, their neighborhoods’ businesses, and their local governments, and they need to be reflected in the media they consume. Help us send at least 100 Woodland Hills School District students to a screening of Black Panther.
The students, the community and Ms. Turner-Welsh have suffered through the loss of young lives that is unparalleled. Let’s give our children a chance to enjoy themselves for a day. The Penn Hills Theater has agreed to charge just $5.00 for admission, popcorn and a drink. We will also provide bus transportation to the movies. Any funds raised over our goal will allow us to provide more tickets for more children! #BlackPantherChallenge
