Hello Everyone! We are asking for your help to support a very near, and dear friend, more like sister. We all became really great friends with Adrienne Powell at CMSU( Now, University of Central Missouri) in 1990. Some of us went to high school together but really became sisters at school, sharing in everything from roman noodles, to make up, to clothes, you name it. We created memories that we could talk about for years but one of our favorite memories was once seeing a spider and all of us screamed in fear. Adrienne being the “BRAIN” that she was began to identify the type of spider that it was instead of trying to get away from it. Lol that is Adrienne, younger than all of us but so much like a big sister and protector of us all.
As life would have it, we all moved on from CMSU and began our lives. We would keep in touch but haven’t been able to spend lots of time together throughout the years. Recently, we were all together at our schools Homecoming and it was just like old times. It was like we had only went home for the weekend and returned to school, not missing a beat. It was such a special time. We were so happy and a bit overwhelmed. Spending time together was amazing. However, one of us made the comment that she went away with a feeling of being thankful but nervous. It had been such a special time that it felt like we would not share this time again(very scary right?)
Well, shortly after our reunion, we were notified that Adrienne had suffered a stroke and was now in ICU. Our hearts dropped. We called ICU but because were not technically family, we got no information. We later found out that she was doing better but still in ICU. Was one of our fears coming true? Would one of us be leaving? Was that time, in fact, the last time we would all be together? We had to stop and do nothing but pray. After days of being in ICU, Adrienne was moved to a regular room and then later released to go home to recover. THANK GOD! Our sister is home and able to spend time with her family.
Now, if you know Adrienne, you know that she’s able to identify a spider on contact lol and you know she’s a hardworking woman with pride. Adrienne is such a giving person and her profession is social work as a matter of fact.
Our dear friend sent us all a message. Her message, we could tell, took her courage to send. Her message was asking for help. We love this woman like a sister and for her to say it was hard for her to ask for help was heartbreaking because as always, if we had it, so does she. Adrienne asked that we help her purchase her medicine due to her being without insurance until January 2017. Her medicine alone is over $2,700 not to mention hospital bills etc. Adrienne is a single mom with 2 boys and the boys look to their mom for all of their support. Immediately, we responded with, “together, we will come up with a plan.” We came together and thought GO FUND ME.
We are asking you to help. Please help our friend get through this very difficult time. Our goal is to come together to raise enough money for her medicine as well as pay if not all, a portion of her hospital bills. Any amount will help. We know that collectively we can impact Adrienne and her family in an awesome way. Please share with others on your FB page.
