Thankfully no lives were lost. However, the loss — of artwork, collections, archival material, supplies and tools — for all the affected artists is devastating, for their practices, their livelihoods, and for Canadian art.
This GoFundMe campaign has been created to offer financial support to the visual artists affected. Please share widely and support this effort as you are able. All the funds raised will go directly to the affected artists to help them re-establish their studios and practices, and provide general financial support.
About the organizer:
This campaign has been organized by Border Crossings Magazine, in partnership with the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art, as part of a collective relief effort supported by the wider Winnipeg arts community.
A committee, including Wanda Koop, representatives from the sponsoring organizations, and others, will administer and distribute the funds in a transparent, fair and expedient manner.
Others affected by the fire:
Beyond visual artists, many others were affected by the fire, including a group of musicians who have set up their own GoFundMe campaign. We encourage you to visit their campaign site and consider contributing (see link below).

Likewise, we've also learned that Agape Table suffered significant losses in the fire. Donations can be made through their website: www.agapetable.ca
