AED machine for Maria's Beach

Donation protected
A couple nights ago after I surfed at Maria's, I heard people screaming for someone to dial 911 as a group of people helped an unconscious man named Pancho to the beach from the line-up. The response was as fast as possible from everyone in the water and on the beach. Pancho was receiving CPR immediately and continuously until the ambulance arrived. In the meantime, people were trying to locate an AED machine nearby, but there wasn't one. I was told the ambulance crew also arrived to the scene without an AED.  While CPR can be effective, AED's increase the chances of survival by 50% if not more. There are no lifeguards in Rincon and emergency response can take a long time. It's up to whoever is surfing to help out using whatever resources available.  Someone (or multiple people) drowns here on a yearly basis and it could happen to anyone, especially with busier lineups . Some things are out of our control but having access to AEDs is something we can control and it could save a life. AED cost starts around $1300. If you enjoy the beaches in Rincon, please donate what you can to make them safer. It would be great to have one accessible at all the busy surf spots in town.

Below are a couple videos of AED machines saving the lives of two men who had just drowned. Proof of how valuable they are. These people were dead.
