Help Isaac make a difference in Nigeria with his studies.

I am Isaac Chubiyo-ojo Odoma, a second year Aeronautical Engineering student from Nigeria, studying in Delft, the Netherlands and this is my story.

Right from childhood i was always fascinated by fixing household appliances, I always got interested in fixing anything broken in the house, it gave me joy. I always wanted to solve problems, make a difference, a change. This developed into a strong passion for Aeronautics right from High school. Aside the fact that I was super passionate about aviation, I was double sure it is the right programme for me because my imaginative and innovative skills could only be well utilized in such a diverse programme that most times requires creative technical solutions for contradictory requirements.

After my secondary school, pursuing my dream seemed difficult, but I never gave up, In my spirit I always felt God saying he would make a way, which I believed and that I was on the right track. I wanted to study Aeronautical Engineering, get a good international education to later contribute to my country to make an impact. The aviation industry in Nigeria despite improvement on safety and security still face a great deal of challenges. Making a change in such a huge market would require passion and an international experience so as to have a better aviation industry, good economy and having less people live in poverty.

In 2016, I secured admission to Inholland University of Applied Science, in the Netherlands to study Aeronautical Engineering. It was a dream come true.

The original plan:
The plan for my entire sponsorship was largely dependent on the agreed generous contribution from my family and friends. At the beginning of my second year, my uncle who was part of my major sponsors lost his job, my mom has been owed her salary for over one year now. With the current exchange rate being almost two times (2X) what it was when I paid my first-year tuition, it has become very difficult for my parents and my elder brother who have become my main sponsors.

Some options I've explored:
I’m a non-EU student, as a non-EU student I am not allowed the study loan via DUO that Dutch students can take. As a non-EU student, I’m also not allowed to work more than 16 hours per week.

The goal of the campaign
The goal of my campaign is for you to help me graduate by raising the total sum of €22,178 to pay my tuition fees in different installments.

My institutional tuition fee per annum is found here:

Breakdown of the campaign and deadlines Deadline
Outstanding Fees: €6,336 February 2019
Second part: Third Year Tuition € 7,921 September 2019
Third Part: Final year Tuition € 7,921 ` September 2020

Achieved milestone:
Three months of Tuition: € 2,332 before June 29th (2018)  has been achieved.
At the moment I have gained a monthly support in the form of €270, which partly fulfills the different deadlines.

If you’ve ever wanted to support Africa, make a change in your own little way and haven’t really found a way to effectively do that, see this as an opportunity to do so. You will also be contributing and investing on the long term to Nigeria and effecting a change. I promise to equally give back to this community, those in similar need when I’m in a better place. I will be a voice, an instrument of change in as much as I can after my studies. You’re also welcomed to ask me any question you have concerning my studies and how I intend to make a difference after my studies.
