Supporting Ontario’s young leaders at the 10th Annual African Youth Governance Conference Accra, Ghana l August 5-12, 2018
THE CONFERENCE
The African Youth Governance Conference (AYGC) is an annual gathering hosted by the Youth Bridge Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on harnessing Africa’s greatest resource – its youth. The 10th AYGC, taking place in Accra, Ghana from August 5-12 is themed “Mobilizing the Youth to Build a Continent Beyond Aid”. Delegates will be members of one of the eleven conference committees (health, governance and leadership, foreign affairs, agriculture, etc.) and will work to develop tool kits on how to network and engage with development stakeholders to leverage ourselves as agents of change in our respective societies.
THE ONTARIO DELEGATION
AfriCan, the Ontario Delegation, is a group of 16 representatives from Ontario who are enthusiastic about being involved and valued in discussions surrounding the social, political, cultural, financial and economic issues afflicting the African continent. This rare learning opportunity to be educated by peers and stakeholders who share our desire to see our motherland thrive, allows the importance of Africa to be showcased beyond its continental boundaries. Our attendance at the 2018 AYGC will benefit both Africa and Canada through the creation of global networks and relationships established during our stay in Accra. It is our plan to take full advantage of the leadership development platform this conference provides. We will return as educated, empowered, internationally connected cultural ambassadors who are committed to being pillars of positive change in our communities, our nation, and our world.
