AJ KEPHART IS BEATING CANCER!!!
Donation protected
I am Sally Tafoya and I am raising money for my nephew AJ Kephart. AJ was a very active boy hanging out with his friends riding his bike, camping with his family and riding on his quad. AJ was on a swim team that he loved doing. But by the end of the year 2012 AJ was complaining of pain in his left knee and after tests done by the doctor, on Jan. 11th. 2013 AJ was diagnosed with osteosarcoma stage 4 cancer at 14 yrs. old. Osteosarcoma is a type of cancer that commonly effects teenage boys who are experiencing a growth spurt. It starts in the bones and sometimes spreads elsewhere in which AJ's case it started in his left knee and spread to his lungs. Doctors immediately began chemo therapy. As he battled his first round of cancer with chemo therapy for a year, they replaced his left knee with a prosthetic, as the chemo was killing the cancer on his lungs they collapsed so they had to insert breathing tubes so they were no longer collapsed. Because of the chemo AJ is now osteopenia and his bones are very fragile. By Feb. 2014 AJ was cancer free. In June of 2014 AJ was diagnosed with cancer again in his left lung but thankfully the doctors were able to remove it with surgery and no chemo therapy. AJ was cancer free again. Of course he was still weak and was not the boy he was before cancer but he was going to be 16 yrs. old and he got his drivers license and returned to school.
In Jan. 2015 again cancer appeared but this time on his back. The doctors removed that cancer with surgery but within weeks he was complaining that his back, shoulder and arm was hurting. It was determined that they had not removed all the cancer which had now spread to his vertebrae, ribs and lungs. AJ will be having surgery on Feb. 24th. to remove that cancer followed by chemo.
AJ has been such a strong and positive young man through this whole ordeal. AJ is a very loving and kind person. He is a remarkable young man. Please help my nephew and his family during this time of need. Even though they have health insurance, it still becomes a financial toll. My sister is not one to ask for help so I will do it for them. All donations and prayers will be greatly appreciated. AJ is a strong young man and I know he will beat this cancer no matter how many times it tries to keep him down. I look forward to telling everyone that he is cancer free again.
God bless you all and thank you so much for your support...
