Help Zoey Serve Alex

Alex is an amazing 14 year old boy who has Mitochondrial Disease. Over the past 14 years he has spent hundreds of days in the hospital. However, he does not let his illness define him. He is an actor, a violinist, and an ambassador for his Children's Hospital.
Two and a half years ago we started the journey to train a service dog for Alex. We first met Zoey in May of 2016. In June of 2016 she came home to us at 6 months old. We were using a private trainer who was going to train Zoey for Alex's specific needs. Over the next year they worked with Zoey sporadically, but went long chunks of time without seeing her. Late in 2017 they let us know that they were no longer going to be working with service dogs. Because Alex spent most of the fall and winter in the hospital, we did not pursue other training. Fast forward almost a year and Alex desperately wants Zoey to finish her training and provide the life saving help that can give him independence and reassurance . We have found a trainer who is well versed in exactly what we need and willing to take Zoey on now, ahead of her years-long waiting list. Please help us make this happen for Alex and our family.
