Alexa Dacres Journey

In August of 2012, 9 year old Alexa was diagnosed with Cancer for the first time. From being a healthy, active young girl, to a patient undergoing intense chemotherapy, Alexa had no other choice but to battle through a lifestyle in which she never imagined having to. Her constant determination, bravery and positive attitude helped her beat this terrible disease.
She relapsed a few years later and again, fought as hard as she could. We were overjoyed to learn that she was cancer free for the second time.
In September of 2018 Alexa, now 15 years old, had her third relapse. This one being the worst. Her team of dedicated doctors at Sick Kids Hospital gave us the unfortunate news that after many rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and medication in the past recent years, her options for treatment this time are very limited.
We have one option remaining in Canada that we have not tried yet but, the reality is this is not a cure. It may only buy us some time. We have no other choice but to explore treatment in the US because the odds are not in our favour here at home.
Expenses for this journey are far more than we can afford considering the cost of treatment, travel expenses, and accommodations. As well as, the cost of converting funds. Alexa’s mom has had to quit her job to care for her 24/7 as well as her 2 other young children. We are certain that with your love, support and generous participation, we can help Alexa return to the active and healthy lifestyle that she deserves to have.
