New start for Alex Dillard

I am setting up this page for Alex Dillard. On November 20th her car started on fire on the side of the freeway. Fortunately she and her three grandchildren made it out safely, but all of their belongings were burned up or severely smoke damaged. They were moving from San Antonio, TX to Renton, Washington.
Outside of Tremonton I saw her and the kids on the side of the road standing next to their smoking car, so I pulled over and got out to help. I quickly realized the smoke was getting worse and worse. I told them to run to my car and get in. I pulled my car forward a little more because I knew it could explode. A trucker stopped and jumped out with a fire extinguisher. I yelled to him that there was no one in the car, they were safe. The car went up in flames and there was nothing we could do. The kids watched their car burnfrom the backseat of my car.
The highway patrol pulled up and made sure everyone was ok, then they placed their vehicles strategically to slow down traffic. The firefighters and ambulance came and went to work immediately. The kids went into the ambulance to get checked out, mostly for a fun distraction for them, when a semi truck apparently didn't see what was going on and slammed into the patrol car that was placed at the front of the scene sending it flying into the median. The truck then came barreling toward everyone working to put the fire out and narrowly missed hitting everyone. One highway patrolman was knocked by something on his boot, but that was it.
I got the kids out of the ambulance and back in my car in case someone had been injured. It was a chaotic scene and everyone was hugging and crying amazed that no one was hurt/killed. The firefighters eventually got the fire out and were able to salvage some of the families things, but everything is smoke damaged. They managed to find Alex's wallet with her ID and the little bit of cash she had. They were on a serious budget to get to Washington. Since I was heading toward Twin Falls anyway, I agreed to take them there to rent a car. The kids were amazingly sweet. Chance is 10, Gabby is 6 and Maddy is 4. I fell in love with them immediately and wanted to do everything I could. We loaded up 3 garbage bags full of smokey stuff they could salvage and were on our way. So many things could have gone so much worse.
Life changing stuff.
Alex is doing everything she can to get back on her feet and went to Washington to start a new job and a new life. Everyone lost all of their personal belongings, including clothing, toys, hygiene products, electronics, everything. Unfortunately she did not have insurance on her car as she had fallen on hard times.
These are some of the sweetest kids I have ever met. They were kind, courteous, grateful and loving. They deserve to have a fresh start.
